Privacy Policy

Effective October 29, 2026

Lovin is a student-run campus game run by Lovin Games LLC, a Utah limited liability company ("Lovin", "we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

What we collect

• Account info: your name, school email, school, housing complex, building, and your floor and room (used only to deliver your stickers).
• Photos: the three photos you add (face, full body, and with your backpack). Only the player hunting you can see them. They never appear in the Arena or the chat.
• Precise location: while a game is running, your phone shares your location with the one player hunting you, about every 10 minutes (about every 2 minutes if that player has a Lovin+ Pass). It is off from 12 AM to 7 AM, inside safe zones, during breaks, and while a Shield or Invisibility is active.
• Videos: the short tag videos players film. They are reviewed by organizers and shown in the Arena for your game.
• Chat messages in your game's group chat.
• Purchases and referrals: power-ups and heart styles are bought through Apple. We keep a record of what you bought, plus your referral code. We never see or store your card number.
• Prize payout info: if you win, the Venmo or PayPal handle you add so we can send your prize.
• Device info: a notification token so we can send you alerts.

What we do not collect

• No advertising, no ad trackers, and no analytics or tracking tools in the app or on our website.
• No contacts, no microphone recordings, and no location outside a running game.
• Our website sets no cookies.

How we use it

• To run the game: hand out targets, show your hunter where you are, settle disputes, and keep the leaderboard.
• To keep everyone safe: review reports, remove cheaters, and moderate the chat.
• To send game notifications and announcements.
• We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

Who can see what

• Your hunter sees your three photos, your building, and your live location. Nobody else does.
• Everyone in your game sees your name, your tag videos in the Arena, and your chat messages.
• Organizers can see your account details so they can run the game and keep it fair.
• Your floor and room are seen only by the organizers and the helper who delivers your stickers. Your hunter and other players never see them.
• We may share information if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.

Services we use

• Google Firebase stores our data and sends notifications.
• Apple processes power-up purchases and delivers notifications.
• Chat messages are checked by an AI moderation service (Anthropic) to block harmful language. Only the message text is sent.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not let them use your information for their own advertising.

How we protect it

Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules so you can only read what you are allowed to. No system is perfectly secure, so we limit what we collect and delete what we no longer need.

How long we keep it

• Your live location is erased when a game ends or when you leave.
• Photos, videos, and your account stay until you delete your account or the organizers clear the game.
• Your floor and room are erased when you delete your account.
• Payment records are kept as long as the law or our accounting requires.

Your choices and rights

• Change your photos, floor and room any time in the Me tab.
• Delete your account and your data in the app from the Me tab. This removes your profile, photos, floor and room, and location.
• Ask to see, correct, or delete your data by emailing lovinuniversity@gmail.com. We will answer within 30 days.
• You can stop notifications any time in your iPhone Settings, and stop all emails by using the unsubscribe link in them.
• Turn location off in your iPhone Settings. The game needs it to work, so you may be unable to play.
• If you live somewhere with privacy rights (such as Utah or California), you can use them by emailing us. We will not treat you worse for doing so.

Website waitlist

If you join the waitlist on our website, we store your email address, the housing you choose, and your Instagram handle if you add one. We use them only to tell you when sign-ups open. We do not sell or share them. Each email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at any time on our website, which deletes your entry.

Age

Lovin is for students who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app.
